I offer three stars, assuming this book is probably an acceptable read, but I have not read this book, and don’t expect to. Let me explain why:

The virus concept for religion is not new to me, and I’d be very interested to find out how this idea was developed by this author. At about 200 pages, it might have been a good book to provide for my virus infected family and friends.

However, after paying the price of [...], for a 200 page book with a title like “The God Virus,” I doubt anyone would be reading this book but me.

[...] is way too much money for me to pay just to satisfy my curiousity about a little book that has such limited application.

Hey, bring the price down, and if the book is worth the three stars I’ve given it, I’d probably buy several.

Its funny that there is such a book as this… If folks don’t believe in God then why worry and read books about it…

Maybe you are bothered.. because there really is something to this God stuff… maybe you aren’t right maybe it is actually possible that something wasn’t created from nothing or aliens?!?

The United States was founded on Christianity.. you won’t see it in history books now.. because its been removed.. but if you read old literature.. thats what you will find… very strange how History can change.. didn’t know that was possible but it is happening.

I didn’t read this book, I can simply look around to see the Anti-Christ spirit and ideas thereof, its not unexpected.

After all, the Nazi’s seemed to have a plan to deal with this type of thing… oh.. thats right it was stopped because it was evil.. hmmm

A well researched book, and so broad in its scope, I found this book extremely interesting and thought-provoking. I learned a lot!

The book is excellent. It is well worth your time and your money. I have enjoyed Dawkins, Hitchens, Harris, Dennett, Erhman and now Darrel Ray joins this distinguished group.’The God Virus’ explores the various ways religions take over our way of thinking and ultimately our culture if we let it. Religion as a disease has been discussed before, and I have given it some thought. Darrel Ray takes it idea and runs with it to a game winning touchdown. The text is easy to follow and the author communicates his argument clearly. I appreciated that there were notes at the bottom of many pages that added extra detail about a person or concept mentioned. Lesser known historical figures or religions, such as Zoroastrianism, are given a couple of lines so you can put them in context. Buy this book. It will not disappoint.

The God Virus is brilliant, well written, and easy to understand. I couldn’t put it down! It connects the dots and helps explain why good people so easily replace reason and science with “faith,” myths, and the supernatural (and are usually hostile in defense of their delusional beliefs).

If you are to the point where religion leaves you cold and/or you are brave enough to search for more understanding, this is an excellent book and a great coping tool.
